Bahrain qualifying was much better than Malaysia and I think we will have a good race tomorrow. Without a doubt, the surprise at Bahrain was Kubica’s pole position!
It was a great lap from Kubica and a well deserved first pole position for both Kubica and BMW. Massa dominated the first two sessions which made it even more surprising. Both Hamilton and Raikkonen seemed a bit off the pace in the first two sessions, but seemed better in the final shoot-out.
It is also worth mentioning Button, who got into the top ten shoot-out for the first time this season. This year’s Honda appears to be a definite improvement over last year’s and it will be interesting to see what he can do in the race.
It is hard to draw too much from qualifying as we have no idea what fuel they all have on board. I’ll be surprised if Kubica isn’t the first to pit tomorrow and I expect Massa to follow not long after. Getting into the first corner first will be very important for Kubica, but I think whatever happens, the race will be much more interesting than Malaysia.
Go Kubica!
